Remote Sessions could fill a need in the SME space for a device that can host a limited number of remote sessions locally. While Azure could be an option for organizations that are happy with a cloud solution, Windows Server can be too expensive and difficult to maintain for SMEs that need to host a limited number of remote sessions onsite.
Great article!Just still I have this question on mind, which windows edition is recommended for WVD?There will be a need for something like Windows 10 in Kiosk mode so that the user will have no option other than connecting to Remote desktop, but in Kiosk mode, there is no way to deploy remote desktop as an app.Thank you.
From a technical perspective, any version of Windows running enough RAM can enable concurrent remote desktop sessions for multiple users. An average of 150-200 MB of memory is needed per user session (without accounting for any apps launched during the session).
Having multiple users sharing the same virtual machine can result in smaller VDI pools, depending on the use case of these environments. VDI environments which provide access to high performance virtual machines (e.g. for multi media, CAD or software development) might not benefit from sharing these virtual machines between users as it would degrade the performance user experience for these users. However, in environments where remote access for remote workers is the primary use case, a Windows desktop OS which can host multiple user sessions can help to reduce the number of virtual machines in a pool and, as a result, help keep operating effort low by limiting the time required to patch and update these virtual machines.
With certain GPUs, physical PCs can use the Direct3D and OpenGL capabilities of the card can be utilized in remote sessions. See OpenGL Support in Horizon when using Physical Agent Desktops and Workstations (78690)
Windows 10 enterprise multi-session support is only for Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) solution. WVD Windows 10 multi-session is similar to a terminal server, some of these virtual devices allow multiple concurrent active user sessions.
We are sorry to inform you that Windows 10 Pro does not support simultaneous remote desktop connections from numerous users. Under normal circumstances, Windows Pro or Enterprise only permits one connection per PC. Only Windows Server OS supports multiple RDP connections up to 2 sessions per license for free.
While the methods above are not safe enough for personal use, here we recommend you use a free remote desktop tool AnyViewer. As a professional remote access software, AnyViewer offers you a safe and easy way to have multiple remote sessions simultaneously. Download it and you can enjoy the following benefits.
Step 5. Select the other device you want to control and click One-click control again. When controlling multiple devices, you can click the tab to switch remote sessions from one to another.
In this post, we provide you with 2 different methods to perform Windows 10 Pro Remote Desktop multiple users. Both the methods are not suggested for personal use cause they are not safe enough for your Windows system. Therefore, if you want to achieve remote sessions simultaneously without any damage to your Windows security, AnyViewer is the best choice for you.
The goal is we are consolidating an office since they are permanently remote. We no longer need to house all the physical desktops. Instead of building one large server for them to remote into we wanted to do a single session VDI experience using windows 10 VM's. I have been trying to figure out how I need to license these machines and build the catalog. Any guidance is helpful at this point as I've reached out to CDW and other vendors on this but can not seem to get a straight answer on which license we actually need.

In ideal and environmentally-controlled situations, the remote desktop protocol works great. However, securing RDP to prevent rogue sessions, hijacking, inappropriate access, exploits, privileged escalation, etc. requires a level of IT security maturity that goes far beyond default RDP settings.
Some vendors that supply proprietary implementations for remote access have solved all the challenges and deficiencies associated with RDP. However, these are enterprise solutions and not free. The underlying protocols used for these solutions are proprietary to the vendors.
BeyondTrust has the only remote access solution that meets the rigorous requirements of FIPS 140-2 Level 1. Our solution controls privileges and sessions across all remote access points, with the ability to proxy access to RDP, SSH, and Windows/Unix/Linux Applications.
1. Centralized, identity-based controls: BeyondTrust integrates with LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS and Kerberos. When you use RDP through BeyondTrust, your user access privileges and authentication methods cascade down to remote desktop sessions. This makes it easier both to require secure authentication before enabling remote access and manage remote access in an ongoing manner. For instance, if an employee departs the company, their RDP privileges are automatically removed from BeyondTrust once deleted from the AD or another identity-based directory, helping prevent backdoor access via an orphaned account.
The solution also integrates easily with other privileged password management solutions, such as BeyondTrust Password Safe. Layering on enterprise password management controls immensely bolsters security and help ensure RDP sessions are not hijacked or leveraged for lateral movement.
5. More robust encryption for remote sessions: BeyondTrust Secure Remote Access safeguards every remote desktop connection with 256-AES SSL encryption. This is much more robust than the 128-bit encryption RDP natively provides, and older versions of RDP may have even weaker encryption in place.
Secure Remote Access can also be integrated with BeyondTrust other PAM solutions, such as Endpoint Privilege Management and Privileged Password Management to enforce least privilege and application control, and manage the entire enterprise universe of privileges. Combining these technologies will provide powerful, blended protection against remote access risks and all types of internal/external threats.
Microsoft removed the old TSAdmin utility in Windows Server 2012 R2, replacing it with the often cumbersome Remote Desktop Services Manager in the Server Manager utility. It is scarce in detail regarding these sessions, and it does not scale well in larger environments. In addition, attempting to shadow remote desktop sessions with MSTSC often does not work as expected, especially with multiple monitor sessions.
Of course, some organizations need to view what users are actually doing inside their remote desktop sessions in order to assist them in a support session, or to audit their work in accordance with policy. If so, our Premium Management Features solution is a very affordable way to do so, giving admins, help desk workers, and managers the ability to view and remote control remote desktop sessions in RDS and WVD with ease.
Multiple remote desktop sessions can be viewed and/or interacted with at the same time inside the MiniView dock, and specific sessions can be brought into sharper focus with powerful resizing features.
Finally, some businesses need to have full insight into how the remote desktop session activity of various users impacts the performance of their terminal servers. They may also need to record terminal server sessions to satisfy auditing and compliance or security policies on their network. In these scenarios, our Remote Desktop Commander Suite is the best tool for the job.
VNC® Connect is built from the ground up with security and privacy in mind and is the first and only remote access solution to complete a white box audit to validate security. We do not record your sessions; all sessions are encrypted up to 256-bit and data cannot be decrypted now or in the future. We also treat every connection as if it is made in a hostile environment and offer both cloud and direct connections, depending on the subscription. 2b1af7f3a8
